You may have read my previous blog post about Events vs Goals and wondered why I left off scrolling down a page as an event. After all, tracking scrolling can help you judge your user experience and website content relevancy.
I decided consciously not to include it for one main reason. It can artificially reduce your bounce rate to a very low number. This makes your site look like a superhero, when in fact you may have an actual bounce rate from 60-80% and just not know it. The goal of events is to help illustrate your user experience and by hiding your real bounce rate with an event like this, you are doing just the opposite.
Instead, I would suggest a heat mapping tool. There are a lot of choices. With heat mapping tools, you will better be able to see how people scroll down the page and interact with your CTAs.

This information will help you make informed decisions about which content should be nearest the top of the page and what needs to be refreshed to draw more attention. This makes it easier to maximize the user experience and help visitors move down the sales funnel more efficiently.
