Blogging is Good Business

By now you have heard of the many benefits of blogging for business. SEO, subject authority, great user experience and increased traffic are a few of the big ones. They key to blogging is consistency (both Google and real people appreciate this), and many experts recommend posting at least once a week. The inevitable follow-up question is, but what will I write about?

Luckily, in home building, there are so many great topics to cover. Once you think beyond physical homes (though you should write about those, too), and consider the meaning behind the move – intangibles like family, security, comfort, stability, community, opportunity and advancement – the options are endless.

Below we’ve highlighted 18 blog post ideas for home builders, each of which should serve as a springboard for 4-6 more targeted ideas unique to your homes, community, neighborhood and buyers.  If you follow this exercise (demonstrated in topic #1), soon you’ll have around 100 blog post ideas. That’s the equivalent of two years of content!

Finding inspiration

If a subject is not your area of expertise, don’t give up! Ask your colleagues to contribute or interview an authority in the field. Brainstorm often to generate new ideas. Look to previous posts that have performed well, frequently visited pages of your website, or ask sales agents and project managers in the field for inspiration.

What type of content would keep you on a builder’s website if you were looking for a new home or considering a new area? That’s also a great place to start. Happy blogging!
