The View from 10,000 Feet

Mike and I spend a fair amount of time on airplanes, and every take-off and landing gives us an opportunity to reflect on why we get so excited about what we do, and who we do it for: home builders and developers. Why? Because below us nearly everything we can see is there because someone built it.

Building something is hard work even when we talk about ideas, music, or great books. Building something physical out of those ideas – especially out of wood, steel, or bricks – that’s a whole new level of WOW.

We love the industry that we are a part of because of the amazing work and stunning impact that builders and developers accomplish every day.

When I first decided to pursue marketing I wanted to make sure I applied my skills to something that mattered to people. I didn’t want to be crafting an advertising strategy for a stick of gum, sugar-flavored water, or a pair of pants. So I set my target on three industries: banking, healthcare, and real estate. Of course, I think I picked the best one.

Home is the second most emotive word in our language after mom, and builders and developers help millions be able to have their own place to call home every year. The best of the industry do it with style and amazing customer service too.

Being part of a group that affects so much change on our physical world is exhilarating – especially from 10,000 feet above the ground.
